my research
Nearly all my research to date has been on queer / LGBT issues, with a growing focus on trans and gender diversity. As can be seen on my CV (see button below), I have studied and/or researched in the US, India, South Africa, Lesotho, Norway, Sweden, and Japan. I am particularly interested in identity construction, globalisation, and finding joy amidst oppression.
Trans Experiences of Belonging in Japan: Postdoctoral fellowship
Since March 2023, I have been in Tokyo to carry out a postdoc in trans studies. With colleagues, I am conducting and analysing interviews with trans and gender-diverse people, to learn how they build resilience in the face of marginalisation.
